When standard is enough

If your windowsill, balcony or terrace offers a space somewhat larger than the size chosen, the gap is easily absorbed by positioning — nothing requires centring the planter to the millimetre. For typical planting (geraniums, small shrubs, herbs), a standard size meets the need without justifying the lead time or cost of a made-to-measure piece.

Usable soil depth, the first thing to check

A usable soil depth of 18 to 22 cm suits most common planting (geraniums, petunias, herbs). Beyond 27 cm, the box becomes suited to deeper roots — small shrubs, perennial grasses.
